There is something magical about arriving at Wester Auchraw Croft and knowing that for the next few days there is nowhere else you need to be.
Imagine arriving in the evening to find your bicycles already waiting. We can arrange bike hire through Wheels Cycling Centre in Callander, with bikes delivered directly to Wester Auchraw Croft ready for your adventure. Secure storage is available, allowing you to settle in, enjoy a homemade supper nearby and watch the evening light fade across the hills. Then the adventure begins. Day One – Lochs, Villages and Hidden WatersAfter a homemade breakfast, join National Cycle Route 7 and follow quiet roads and cycle paths through some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery. Ride east along Loch Earn towards St Fillans, where the loch opens wide beneath the surrounding hills. Continue to Comrie for coffee and a wander through this charming Perthshire village before returning through changing landscapes of woodland, farmland and mountain views. Along the way, I can point you towards secluded places to swim, far from the busy beaches and well known tourist spots. Emerald waters, hidden river pools and quiet places where the only sounds are birdsong and moving water. Return to the croft in the evening for tea by the fire, tired legs and the deep satisfaction that comes from a day spent outdoors. Day Two – Balquhidder, Ancient Paths and Highland StoriesToday follow the road west towards Balquhidder, one of Scotland's most beautiful glens. This is a landscape rich in history, folklore and memory. Here you'll find the resting place of Rob Roy MacGregor, ancient churches and traces of people who have lived amongst these hills for thousands of years. Beyond the obvious attractions are quieter discoveries. Hidden standing stones, forgotten pathways and places where the ancient relationship between people and land can still be felt. Take time to stop. Sit beside a burn. Walk amongst the trees. This is forest bathing in its simplest form. Not something to do, but something to experience. There is a certain stillness here that modern life rarely offers. Perhaps end the day with an evening wild swim before returning to the warmth of the croft. Day Three – Killin, Waterfalls and Highland AdventureYour final day takes you towards Killin, where Loch Tay meets the dramatic Falls of Dochart. The route offers wonderful cycling through Highland scenery, passing lochs, forests and mountain views at every turn. Stop for lunch in one of the local cafés or visit nearby galleries showcasing the work of Scottish artists inspired by these landscapes. If time allows, explore one of the area's hidden gems. A waterfall pool known only to locals. A forgotten stone circle. A quiet woodland where ancient oaks and lichen-covered branches create an atmosphere that feels almost timeless. These are the places that rarely appear in guidebooks but often become the memories guests treasure most. A Slower Kind of Highland StayThree days allows something to shift. The pace slows. The landscape begins to reveal itself. What starts as a cycling holiday often becomes something deeper: time outdoors, meaningful conversations, wild water, good food and the simple pleasure of following your curiosity. Wester Auchraw Croft is perfectly placed for exploring St Fillans, Comrie, Balquhidder, Strathyre, Killin and the wider Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Whether you're a keen cyclist, a wild swimmer, a walker or simply someone looking for a slower way to experience Scotland, you'll find space here to breathe, explore and reconnect with the natural world. Hire your bikes, unpack your bags and stay a little longer. The Highlands have a habit of rewarding those who don't rush.
