For a quieter day, take a gentle walk beside Loch Earn, explore the wooded paths around the village or follow old routes through the surrounding glens. For a more challenging ascent, Ben Vorlich above Loch Earn is one of the best-known local Munros and offers wide views across the surrounding landscape. Cycling from the Door
National Cycle Route 7 through the Highlands
National Cycle Route 7 passes through Lochearnhead, making Wester Auchraw Croft a natural place to pause for cyclists.
Follow the route towards Glen Ogle and Killin, or take time to explore the quieter roads through the glens. One of the route’s recognised highlights is the Glen Ogle Viaduct section between Lochearnhead and Killin.

Balquhidder & Loch Voil
Visit Balquhidder Kirkyard, where Rob Roy MacGregor is buried, then continue gently into the glen beside Loch Voil and Loch Doine.
Balquhidder is known for its peaceful landscape, history and sense of remoteness.
St Fillans
Explore the village at the eastern end of Loch Earn and climb Dundurn Hill, the site of a Pictish fort and the cell of Saint Fillan.
Killin, the Old Mill & the Stone Circle
Continue north through Glen Ogle towards Killin, a Highland village at the western end of Loch Tay.
Begin at the Falls of Dochart, where the river moves dramatically through the village. Beside the falls, visit The Old Mill, a historic community-run building with local arts, crafts and small exhibitions.
The mill is also home to the Healing Stones of St Fillan: eight water-washed stones traditionally associated with the eighth-century saint. Local tradition holds that the stones were used for healing, with each stone linked to a different part of the body. The Old Mill remains the place to ask about viewing them.
A little further on, the Kinnell Park Stone Circle sits just outside the village near Loch Tay. This prehistoric stone circle is thought to be around 4,000 to 5,000 years old and consists of six standing stones, one marked with cup carvings.
