Wild swimming at Loch Earn begins in stillness.

Wild swimming here begins in stillness.

Loch Earn rests just below the croft, deep, quiet, holding its own time. Step in slowly. The cold meets you cleanly. Breath catches, then softens. Thought drops away.

A loch has a certain depth to it. It asks nothing, yet it takes what you’re ready to release. Not as effort, not as ritual — simply by being met. You float, held. For a moment, there is no edge between you and the water.

The rivers move differently. Lively, precise. Flowing over stone, shaping and reshaping as they go. You step in, brief and awake. A sharper immersion. A sense of movement returning, something shifting, clearing, carrying on.

Between still water and moving water, something balances. Holding and letting go. Depth and flow.
Back at the croft, warmth comes slowly. Fire lit. Towel wrapped. A cup in your hands.

People often sleep deeply after. As if the body has remembered its own rhythm again.
Nothing to achieve here.

Just water meeting you exactly where you are.
