Melanie is a very welcoming and accommodating host. She opened her home and let me collapse in front of the fire for hours. I could also use the kitchen. She made the most delicious breakfasts. Bedroom was really comfortable even when -6 outside. A great place to coorie in.Estelle 2023
We really enjoyed our stay in Melanie's stunningly restored home. The room was comfortable and Melanie was a nice and flexible host. and the whisky porridge and breakfast were amazing! Chris 2023
We had a wonderful stay in Melanie's yurt. We arrived soaking after a hard day on bikes and Melanie had us feeling right at home straight away. This is really a perfect place to relax. The yurt was warm and cosy from the stove and the bath was very luxurious. Melanie cooked us a fantastic dinner and breakfast using lots of local ingredients, some from her lovely garden. 2023
Melanie, what can we say?! Wish we could have given this more stars, it was an amazing nights stay and we did wish we could have stayed for longer. So welcoming and calm, amazing fire, incredibly breakfast and wonderful company. Great stay all round, feeling very relaxed and grounded - would highly recommend this for an escape. Hopefully see you soon, Katie & Aiden 2023

We had a wonderful time at Melanie’s place. This ancient stone Croft house has been styled in such a lovely way! We got to enjoy the bathroom with the gorgeous round bathtub. The beds we so comfortable as well with thick down comforters. We felt so pampered. Her breakfast was superb and we got to meet some other guests and sit around a cozy table and chat while we ate. It was a great experience, if you’re considering it, book it! You won’t regret it.Deb Lee March 2022

How is 10 the highest rating?? We would give MUCH higher if we could. Melanie is just AMAZING - we felt soo welcome, the food was incredible and honestly the most cosy place we have stayed. Thank you for creating such a welcome / homely space and we can’t wait to return. All our love, Matt and Huw". May 2021

“We had such a nice and relaxing stay at Melanie's gorgeous cottage. The interior design and wood burning stove make it the perfect environment to lounge and unwind! The location is fantastic with an abundance of stunning walks and cycle routes close by. Melanie's hospitality was first class and the breakfast was just superb. Will definitely be returning in the future!” Will Taylor November 2020
“What a unique, amazing experience! Melanie has thought out all the touches to this authentic yurt and it shows. This wasn't just somewhere to stay - this was somewhere to EXPERIENCE. We absolutely loved every moment of it - the fireplace, the candlelight, the sounds of nature around us, the massive bed... Wow. So romantic and tranquil. And Melanie's breakfast in the morning - outstanding! The porridge was hands down the best we've ever had - AND the smashed avocado and egg on toast. Melanie was one of the most lovely hosts we've come across and you could tell she genuinely loved hosting others. Would love to come back someday.” Alex August 2020
“We had a lovely stay with Melanie. She welcomed us in, we had tea by the roaring fire - it was such a nice arrival. The whole space was just gorgeous, and the room was comfortable and clean and just so stylish. I loved the little touches that just made it feel so luxurious. January is a quiet time in Lochearnhead I think, but Melanie recommended having dinner at Mhor 84 down the road, and indeed it was a great meal with good vegan options. Breakfast was outstanding - and I'd highly recommend Melanie's yoga class as well! We left feeling relaxed and restored. Overall we felt like we'd been on a luxury retreat and I'd love to come again.” Alex January 2020
“Melanie’s Croft was an absolute joy to stay in. Based on prior reviews I would agree with the majority of past reviewers with some updates: the shower pressure in our room was perfectly fine so that issue seems to be resolved from my experience. It was very strong and I was able to shower very comfortably. So this was a non-issue. Staying here is perfect for those who are interested in the experience of staying in a beautiful space filled with a wonderful energy. It is a relaxed environment where you can feel at home, while still being a gorgeous space and feel like you’re in an interior design magazine spread. Melanie is a pleasure to chat with and truly brightens a room whenever she is around. Her breakfast was amazing!! (I have to remind myself to ask for her recipes!) Melanie has two adorable cats so that was also a pleasure. I am mildly allergic and was surprised to find I experienced no symptoms during my stay. Her home is so very clean. If you’re in the area for dinner, Mhor 84 is a great choice! Food was heavenly.” June 2019
“This yurt is amazing!!! So beautiful, so comfortable, warm with the use of the fireplace and heater, has a comfortable couch, and amazing amenities. Melanie is incredibly kind and makes AMAZING breakfast. This was a stay we will never forget". Julia August 2019
“It was such a treat to stay at Melanie’s place for one night! The hurt was a lot of fun and was super cozy with the wood fire. Breakfast in the morning was outstanding and Melanie was such a wonderful host. 10/10 would recommend” May 2019
“Arguably, I believe this is the cliche Airbnb experience we all hope for - beautiful barn conversion in a wild part of the world, super cool interior design, warm family home with two adorable cats, delicious whisky-infused porridge for breakfast, and one of the most hospitable homeowners I've ever met. Melanie welcomed us with a pot of tea, and we enjoyed an excellent conversation-filled evening with herself and her neighbour. It was a real pleasure! 10/10” Falicity
“Amazing place with an even more amazing breakfast. The reviews don’t lie. It’ll fuel you up for any kind of hike or excursion. We ended up hiking Ben Volrich an hour away and then found the yurt an incredibly cozy place to relax. Great place to escape.” April 2019
“Overall the place was great, very clean and cosy. We were recommended to attend a Yoga class and it was a very amazing experience. Keep in mind most places in the town closes the kitchen at 2030, so to get your dinner you will have to skip the yoga class. Breakfast (whiskey porridge) is definitely an experience you won’t regret.”Leva March 2019

“The positive reviews lived up to my expectations whilst staying at melanie's place. The host achieved to give us the full Monty experience. Even her mini me's hosting skills was spot on to make us feel being welcomed and trusted. I would definitely comeback. “We arrived on our bikes and we're greeted by Melanie's charming daughters and handed some delicious brownies just out of the oven. Good start! The yurt sits in the garden to the side of the main croft house and far exceeded our expectations. As yurt first timers we were very impressed. Really comfy bed, wood burner and lots of lovely little touches. The bathroom and look are in the main house which didn't bother us at all but might be worth bearing in mind if this is important to you. Melanie recommended the excellent Mhor84 for dinner. Not far away. We hadn't expected breakfast but we were served possibly the best porridge I've ever tasted, kippers, poached eggs and toast. Stay far exceeded our expectations. Everything spotlessly clean and charming hostess. Highly recommend. ” July 2017 Annette Welch.

Melanie and Jaime are amazing hosts. The yurt is one of the most unique places I have ever stayed in. It was truly lovely. The breakfast everyone talked about is even more amazing when I experienced it myself. I will definitely stay again when I am in the area. April 2017
“Melanie is a wonderful host. Her house is beautifully decorated and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Melanie welcomed us with a pot of tea and many recommendations for dinner (she even made the booking for us). In the evening, Melanie lit us a fire for us to relax by which was very much appreciated after a long day of travel. To finish off our stay, Melanie made us her special breakfast which made for a great end to our stay. We would highly recommend. April 2017
My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at Melanie's home! It was so cute and cozy and the perfect place for our stay in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Would definitely recommend! April 2017
Melanie's place is an absolute dream! It is even better in person than the pictures. So magical and cozy, even during a sudden snow storm. Everything is clean and tidy and the stove heats up the space quite quickly. Breakfast was so great and chatting with Melanie made it even better. Highly recommend!! February 2017
Beautiful and interesting place to stay. Loved the books on architecture and interior design. Fantastic breakfast in the morning too. Mhor 84 was also a great recommendation and we thoroughly enjoyed the Thursday night live music. February 2017

Awesome stay at this B&B. 5* December 2016
This is a beautiful home with lots of unique and rustic features. It was lovely to feel so welcome into a family. The space is is warm and cosy even in -4 degrees and only a short walk to the loch. It is also a central point to travel to other lochs. You will come from there feeling relaxed and refreshed with not a care. Also well rested as there is not a sound to disturb you... only a peck on the door in the morning from the chickens!! Always have the porridge for breakfast it is amazing!! Thank you for a great trip. Novemeber 2016
A blissful couple of days far from the madding crowd in a beautiful area of Scotland. This is a delightful, slightly quirky & charming B&B. Melanie is a great host and as on all the previous comments makes the 'best porridge' to start the day. Melanie's home is lovely and the photos are very much representative of it.The croft is well located for fabulous walks and cycle tracks. I can highly recommend it. October 2016
Melanie has created an extraordinarily beautiful home - a perfect blend of old and new. Her communication was prompt and clear throughout the planning process and she and her family were marvelously welcoming. I was travelling on my own and appreciated how gracious she was to me and the other guests staying in her yurt. September 2016
The cottage is a dream come true! Restored to perfection, super clean, smells great, lovely fireplace...and it has so many special little interior design details...lovely! The room was exactly as in the photos if not better! Cosy! Super high quality bed, great quality linen, good soaps/shampoos, cute selection of special local area books, great recommendation for dinner...what can I say about breakfast? Melanie even accommodated my need to wake up and leave super early! Thank you!!! Breakfast was great and very personal...I could have been served formally but we ended up with lots of chatting, i felt truly welcomed! nothing could have been better! Great design, great, quality, great host and great food!!! Melanie exudes (URL HIDDEN) is all reflected in her idyllic croft and in her warm welcoming to guests. There is so much love in the air that words can't describe how good I felt! I felt totally at home! I want to go back!!! September 2016
My wife and I enjoyed our stay here so thoroughly. The accommodations where more than welcoming and our host Melanie was a joy and more than accommodating. I'll say that the bed was exceptionally comfortable and if you enjoy any kind of creativity and art, you will enjoy your stay that much more. There is also some great hiking just minutes away from here and the views are spectacular. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer. August 2016
“Okay, the place is wonderful, Mel is amazing. She is super helpful and kind and positive. The decor is beautiful, the breakfast is to die for and she provides the kind of hospitality that makes me want to invite her over to my place to reciprocate. Aside from the house and Mel, the area is really special, picturesque, wild and ancient.” July 206

"We absolutely loved our stay! The yurt is wonderful and the attention to detail really adds to its charm. It's spacious and cosy and I had one of the comfiest nights sleep I've had in a long time! It's the perfect retreat. Loch Earn is stunning and it was a lovely place to explore. Mhor84 was also an amazing recommendation. We had such a fab time - we would definitely return again! ". July 2016
“The yurt was wonderful: very clean and inviting, it was also terrifically warm with the fire going and filled with a lot of thoughtfully-chosen items and books - an ideal place to stay for exploring the Trossachs national park. Melanie was a great host, who was immediately welcoming and very friendly, lending us books about the local area, suggesting routes for walking and driving and giving us delicious breakfasts of Highland porridge and eggs from her chickens. Loch Earn itself is beautiful, and a bracing swim if you fancy it, while climbing up to Creag an Tuirc above Balquhidder makes for an incredible view along Loch Voil and Loch Doine. As well as Mhor 84 for food, The Lade Inn in Kilmahog does some very tasty meals. Couldn't recommend here more, and hope to make it back up soon, in short! ” Laurie April 2016
“Wow! We have just started coming back down to earth from our wedding road trip and our stay with Melanie, Ross and their wonderful family. The Croft is stunning and super comfy and cosy and Melanie made us feel like we were old friends when we arrived. Tea in front of the woodburner was most welcome and sitting with the children chatting was so special. We switched our last two nights to sleep in the Mongolian Yurt in the back garden and loved every moment of this. The yurt is beautiful and cosy with a woodburner and plenty of books and music to chill out with. Breakfast is delicious and Melanie's porridge is a must! The local area is breathtaking and Melanie and Ross were happy to point to us some beautiful adventures. We cannot thank you enough for making the first few days of our marriage so special and something that will stay in our hearts forever. To wake up every morning to the background of mountains was just” Benedict. Dec 2015
“Melanie is a great hostess. She showed us around her house and made us feel at home. Everything was very neat. The beautiful community where she lives is absolutely stunning. She is an engaging host who has a great response time to any questions you may have. She also helped us out with tips on the surrounding area and recommended a local restaurant, Mhor 84, which we loved. She also has a great love for Scotland and gave us some great information on its history, events, culture, etc. We were only here for one very short night and we got a great nights sleep. And yes, she makes a GREAT breakfast. ”
“The only disappointment was that we did not spend more time here. Melanie and her place are great. Excellent conversation and wonderful breakfast, plus a beautiful home. This place exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.” Chris From America June 2015
We had an amazing stay at Melanie's - she was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. She recommended a great place to eat and gave us a full overview of the surrounding area - there's a lake right at the end of her road. Breakfast was great, and the room/house was one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed in - even the photos don't do it justice. Had a lovely cosy evening relaxing by the fire. Thoroughly recommend!

A truly beautiful property, of which I now have house envy. Mel is a great host. Very accommodating, interesting and cooks up a top breakfast, on which to commence the day. The oft mentioned whisky porridge is deserving of all of the praise that it receives. Couple with at least one visit to the nearby Mhor 84, for food and you have the ingredients of a great break. Would thoroughly recommend.

Melanie is a fantastic host. She made me feel very welcome and we chatted for a while and as hosts go I could not ask for more. I will definitely be returning. I recommend this to anyone who wants great accommodation in one of the most idyllic areas In Scotland Mel made me a fantastic breakfast and it was a 5* + experience ...thank you Mel. Mark March 2015
This cottage was absolutely magical. It really is as cosy and beautiful as the photos make out. Melanie was such a warm and welcoming hostess who made us feel so very much at home from the moment we arrived. Justine March 2015
There has not been a day since we left without thinking about that special place! Melanie was more than just a great host and really shared her peaceful home with us. It is beautifully finished and all supremely comfortable, especially the bed. Mel's legendary porridge helped set us up for our days out enjoying the splendour of the autumnal Scottish hills. She recommended all the best places to walk, fish and dine which summed up to the most wonderful few days. It was a real pleasure to meet Mel and her family and we'd love to stay again. Adele November 2014
Melanie's house was really unique and beautiful and had such lovely artistic touches. We only stayed one night, but were greeted with a lovely fire and cup of tea and departed the following morning after the best breakfast I had during our entire two week holiday in Scotland! Melanie also had great recommendations for dinner and coffee and she and her kids were extremely engaging and lovely to chat to. Truly great place. KATY
Stay here. Wonderful place. We stopped hear to break up a longer journey, it turned into a real treat. Melanie has a gift for creating a sense of place, and much besides. Her cooking was delicious, the breakfast by some margin better than our subsequent hotel - excellent porridge with malt whisky ( honestly, try it!), lovely sourdough toast, delicious eggs, smoked fish. Lovely interior. WOJTEK
What a fantastic first visit to Scotland! Melanie was incredibly welcoming and shared loads of great hints and tips of where we could best immerse ourselves in all that the area had to offer.
The long-house is fantastically located to explore all the stunning scenery and delicious food of the local area. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast... well the breakfast was the best I've had, anywhere. The room itself was beautifully decorated and the bed incredibly comfortable. Highly recommended. MARCUS
Really great host and super, super home. Very smart eye for design in this cottage modernisation. We arrived very late and Melanie was terrific in making a late night cup of tea for my wife and I. Great breakfast and a brisk walk up Balquidder Glen afterwards made a very delightful start to the next day. Highly recommended. STEVEN

STEVEN
